This Stuff is Even Better Than RainX! Absolutely Amazing!

Test Setup
- Ten windshield water repellents, ranging from $8 to $45, were compared for application effort, slickness, water repellency, bug release, and chemical resistance.
- The vehicle glass and separate test panels were thoroughly cleaned before application, then coatings were allowed to cure for 48 hours.
Application and Slickness
- Rain-X, Meguiar's, Invisible Glass, Ethos, and Adam's were quick and easy to apply; Gtechniq and Gyeon required about 35 minutes and multiple steps.
- Invisible Glass was the slickest coating at 0.7 pounds of sliding force, followed by Rain-X at 1.0 and Glaco at 1.1 pounds.
Water Repellency
- Gtechniq and Glaco tied for the best initial water repellency, with Gyeon placing third.
- After glass cleaner and car-wash detergent exposure, Gtechniq and Glaco remained the leaders, while Gyeon held third place.
- Ethos and Adam's tended to form sheets of water under direct spray, potentially reducing visibility in heavy rain.
Bug and Chemical Testing
- Gyeon and Glaco released bug residue best; Nason, Griot's, Gtechniq, and Adam's also performed well.
- Gtechniq retained the strongest hydrophobic performance through aggressive wheel cleaner and degreaser testing, while Adam's and Ethos degraded substantially.
- After the final torture test, Gtechniq cleared water in 0.9 seconds without forced air and 0.6 seconds with simulated 40 mph airflow.
Overall Verdict
- Gyeon ranked first overall with an average finish of 1.9 and consistently placed first or second, but cost about $45 and required more application effort.
- Gtechniq ranked second overall at 2.2 and was the recommended value choice at about $20, despite being the most time-consuming to apply.
- The strongest coatings substantially outperformed Rain-X in durability and water repellency, potentially improving wet-weather visibility and safety.
Actiepunten
- Thoroughly clean and dry the glass before applying a water-repellent coating.
- Apply coatings on cool glass in a shaded area and follow each product's curing instructions.
- Wear gloves when handling solvent-based products such as Rain-X.
